Description

Known for her painted silver creatures, Satoko Takemura’s porcelain marionettes feature her beloved milky-white porcelain woodland and pasture animals in a stunning silver glaze. Possessing a magic-like charm, each marionette invites play. Watch as its subtle movements cast animated shadows and a faint twinkling sound as they dance about. Hang in natural light near a window and catch a glimpse of how their dignified eyes glimmer in the sun.

Delicate and beautifully radiant, each piece is a one-of-a-kind, meticulously crafted in Takemura’s studio in Nagano.

About:

Satoko Takemura

Satoko Takemura is a porcelain artist who regularly holds solo and group exhibitions in Japan. Having studied pottery in one of Japan’s coveted six ancient kilns in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, her works are largely inspired by the area’s porcelain prowess and the “Grand Fond Blanc” (milky white) paintings by Léonard Tsugouharu Foujita. Her whimsical animal characters and porcelain works are handmade and glazed with an original milky white glaze and silver paint in her hometown of Nagano.

Nagano, Japan
