Description
Product Description:
Getting its name from the Finnish word for “home”, the Koti Mini Plate is a sweet addition to any table setting. Each sleepy animal plate is made from iron-rich clay with hand-painted designs using traditional “gosu” paint that turns an endearing antique-like indigo when glazed.
Use as a cutlery rest or to accompany drinks with small treats like chocolates, nuts, and dried fruits. Also doubles as a catchall tray or coffee table decor.
No two pieces are alike; each piece is handmade and painted by local Seto ceramists. Variations in color and design are normal.

About:
Marumitsu Poterie
Originally getting its start in 1950 as a local ceramic wholesaler in Seto, Kenji Kato had the idea to create original designs after a visit to a potter in Gifu who was making bowls for French café au lait in 1985. Intrigued by the concept of making tableware for specific needs, he began working with local specialists to craft ceramic dishes that complemented each meal.
Made from natural clay sourced from the mountains, shaped by hand, and designed for various ingredients in mind, Marmitsu Poterie tableware is a companion to mealtime.

Care + Use:
Microwave and dishwasher safe. Do not use in the oven or over an open flame. Before each use, soak the piece in plenty of clean water to allow it to fully absorb moisture to reduce the absorption of liquids from food, helping to prevent mold and stains from seeping in.
Wash immediately after use, then allow to dry fully. Avoid cleaning with metal or overly abrasive materials and cleaning products. Some items may have fine cracks (crazing) on the surface at the time of purchase, or develop them over time with use. These do not affect usability.
